Scott Lucht

Hi, my name is Scott Lucht. I just recently finished my Bachelor's degree in Information System Security and System Administration. I currently work full time as an Information Systems Manager for a small company here in snow covered Minnesota.

I came in contact with my first computer around age 17 and became very interested in how it worked. It was a super fast Pentium II 400Mhz CPU, 128MB of RAM and Windows 98 SE. I remember buying parts for it through the old Tiger Direct magazines. I was always changing the hardware or re-installing the operating system. I can't count how many computers I've built and how many operating systems I have installed. I learned a lot about computer hardware and a ton about the different operating systems during the first few years. Over the years I have built and upgraded many PC's for family and friends. I am the person they call when they have a computer problem or need a new computer/upgrades.

After awhile I became interested in online multiplayer gaming. I started playing a FPS (First Person Shooter) called Delta Force 2 created by NovaLogic. Because of that game I became very interested in web development. I started with a personal website to hold missions I had created for the game. I learned the basics of HTML and how to make basic graphics from a friend. Soon after I became bored with the personal site and decided that I needed more of a challenge. I contacted the owner of another fan site and we merged to create one of the biggest Delta Force fan sites in the world, Novahq.net. At its peak we received over 3k unique visitors and over 100k page visits per day. My interest in web development exploded and I have been developing websites ever since. Trying to manage the static pages of a very large site became almost impossible for two people. That sparked my interest in PHP. I started to automate simple tasks around the site and eventually replaced the whole site with a custom built content management system. The site is completely managed through a web based control panel. Nearly all content is user generated. I currently write code in a few languages such as PHP, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, VB6 and I easily pickup on other languages. PHP is by far my favorite language because it's a very diverse language that can be used to create almost anything the web is capable of quickly and easily.

Apart from my love of computers, I also have a few hobbies such as playing hockey, golfing, roller blading, long walks on the beach (For the ladies =p), movies and working on my car. Yes, let's talk about my car! Since the first rumors of the 'turbo neon' hit the streets around 2001, I fell in love with this car. It's a 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4. Her name is Lucie2 and yes, I'm obsessed with this car. Bone stock she produces 240hp and 250tq. The car weighs only 2,900lbs so it's extreme lightness makes it very quick. It is still to this day the fastest production car ever produced for under $20k. Every time I get in the driver's seat it puts a smile on my face. I'm proud to own a 'Neon' that can outrun many higher priced sports cars =).
